Can I get an idea of who would be interested in coming along to a brunch on Sunday morning?

It’s a little embarrassing when you receive an enormous package of goodies from a sponsor, and you haven’t even written up their blog post yet, even though they offered to sponsor Sew It Together a couple of weeks ago. And that’s not the only one. I have two sponsor posts to write, and I am very late, and my only excuse is that I have been busy making arrangements for Sew It Together, and finding time to workout, cook and eat healthily, spend 2 hours in the car each day doing the school run and taking care of a family. Nothing that everybody else isn’t already doing, so it doesn’t even count as an excuse.
I WILL be writing one of those sponsor posts today, by hook or by crook and I’ll get the other one done tonight, no matter how late I need to stay up. I apologise to our generous sponsors.
In other news, the room space at The Menzies has been locked in, and as a result of numbers and finding the right space for us, there is now a cap of 60 for the Saturday Crafting Session. That leaves about 10 spaces by my calculations on my trusty spreadsheet. If you have been thinking about coming along, then I suggest that you book sooner rather than later! You can book here.
Final payments for the Saturday Crafting Session are now due and payable here.
I don’t have enough numbers to warrant a minibus to Material Obsession on Sunday Morning, but I am looking at alternatives, so don’t give up hope yet!
I think that’s it!
I’ve made a few changes to the shop this morning.
- There is no longer an option to pay a deposit for the Saturday Crafting Session. If you wish to come along and join us (and please do!) you will need to pay the whole cost upfront from today.
- You can now book and pay for your Saturday Night Dinner. Numbers are unlimited for this, but you must have attended the Saturday Crafting Session to come along for dinner (excluding Mathilda’s stallholders).
- You can now pay your final payment for the Saturday Crafting Session (if you have previously paid a deposit). Please pay this by February 20, 2011 or your deposit will be forfeited.
And that’s about it! You can still book a place on the Friday Fabric Shopping Trip and the Prints Charming Stitching Session (just a couple of seats left) if you haven’t already done so.
Here’s a link to the Sew It Together ‘shop’ where you can make all of your bookings in one place!
Name Tag Swap – sign-ups closed!
Details of the Sample Swap are here.
And once you have paid your deposit, join our Facebook group here!

Leave a comment below and I’ll answer as soon as I can. I’m outta here before dawn tomorrow, but I am bringing my favourite tech gadgets with me, so I should be able to stay in touch.
See you all soon!
Is anyone coming from SE Melbourne, for the Crafting Session only, that would be interested in carpooling?
I will be coming from Pakenham, so I could even meet someone coming from Gippsland or I could come in a little bit to any SE Melb suburbs. I am a P plate driver and really want to avoid driving if I can! My best contact is email@example.com or my mobile.
I have Chantell’s mobile number if you can help her.
Thanks very much!
As I was putting together all your wonderful ideas about Melbourne, I discovered, in the midst of all that information, a question from Kelly that I have only just realised hasn’t seen the light of day.
My sister always raves about the Victoria Markets, I’m not sure when they’re on, but I’m hoping to get a chance to visit them while I’m down there. She also raves about Op Shopping in Melbourne – perhaps some of the Melbournians have a list of their fave Op Shops and their addresses? My sister lives in Darwin, she just LOVES visiting Melbourne whenever she can.
Can anyone help Kelly out?
One of the latest ladies to join in, Rachelle, was wondering if anyone was coming from Ballarat and was interested in car-pooling to the Saturday Crafting Session?
Next is Jo who is looking for a someone to share at the Citigate Hotel. If you are interested, please email her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
And lastly, I need your help with some understanding of travel times and Melbourne traffic on a Friday afternoon for our Fabric Shopping Trip. I would really, REALLY appreciate any help from anyone who can help me out here. The shopping ladies need you.
Whereis tells me that it will take 10 minutes from Ink & Spindle in Kensington to Nicole Mallalieu’s studio in Brunswick. I’ve allowed 20 minutes. We’re talking about doing this between 4:30pm and 5:00pm on a Friday afternoon. Do you think that this is feasible?
The other question is about the leg from Patchwork on Central Park in East Malvern to Ink & Spindle. Whereis tells me 21 minutes. This trip will be between 3:00pm and 4:00pm. Would you say that I should allow 30 minutes? More?
Thank you VERY much for your assistance!
Thank you to everyone who took the time to fill out my little form with your details. I had a wonderful time reading through your responses. I loved reading about what you like to make and what your blog means to you. I loved everything that the Melbourne bloggers (and a few others) wrote about their city. Truly. I loved everything that you wrote.
I’ve started to collate it all for printing, given that there is less than 3 weeks to go until I board that plane for Melbourne. (I can’t believe that!).
It occured to me that the information provided about favourite places in Melbourne really needs to be distributed beforehand. I know that lots of you are travelling down on Thursday, so you will have a little time on Friday morning to possibly fill in.
(I haven’t finalised the Friday Fabric Shopping trip departure time or itinerary yet. Still working on it.)
The information is available in a Google document that you can print yourself here and take with you to Melbourne.
Thanks again, everyone. You are all helping to shape this event into something awesome.
Just in case this looks like the kind of thing you might be interested in, Titanic – The Artefact Exhibition opens at the Melbourne Museum on May 14th. For those who are visiting Melbourne for Sew It Together from interstate, this might be your only chance to see the exhibition.
More details here.
Tickets available here.
I have received a payment for Sew It Together with no name.
If you have paid me and you have not received a return email to say I have received the money, then please contact me ASAP. Even if you aren’t sure, please check with me. I really need to put a name to this payment.
